Parents Insurance Atlas or Patriot

My parents (72 and 62 years old ) are visiting from India for two months. They do not have any pre-exciting condition as of now. I looked into various insurance options and decided to have $100k policy maximum with comprehensive coverage. I am planning to buy Atlas America for my mother , but my father atlas offers only 50k maximum. Is it good enough? I also looked into patriot platinum which offer $100k but I have to purchase minimum three month to be eligible for renewal. My parents are not planning to stay more than two months other than in an emergency health situation happening here for them. I am confused with buying atlas with only $50k but renewability or patriot platinum with $100k but no renewability. Can I purchase patriot for three month and cancel for the last month when my parents leave the country (provided no claim)? How easy is it to get the refund?.

Due to high healthcare costs in the U.S., $50,000 may not be enough in case something serious happens. Therefore, I would definitely suggest $100k over $50k.

I have a good news for you. We have received the information that starting April 1, 2013, renewability rules are going to change in all Patriot plans. You will need to purchase only for a minimum one month in order to be able to renew in future.

If you need to buy it for before that, you will have the options of repurchase (all terms/conditions getting reset) or you can buy for 3 months and if there are no claims and they leave within 2 months, you will get the pro-rated refund minus $50 cancellation fee. It is very easy and straightforward procedure to get that refund. You just have to send us an email with the certificate number and indicate that you would like to cancel it.
