Help: Chossing medical insurance (H1B, H4)

Hi,

I have come on H1B visa for working in US & my employer is in east coast(NY) whereas my work location(client) is in west coast(WA). My queries are as follows:

1. What are the various things one needs to consider/enquire when employer provides you medical insurance? He will be paying for my medical insurance.

2. My wife is on H4, and my employer is asking me to go for family/group insurance but I will have to pay for my wife's insurance, then what factors I need to consider/enquire while selecting for her insurance?

If you are enrolling in group insurance from your employer, there is nothing really much to consider to ask questions about it.

Most employers have one plan for all employees.

Simply enroll in their plan and pay your portion.
You can certainly ask them the details of what it covers, what is the copay etc. Whatever it is, in almost in all cases, group insurance through employer is better than individual health insurance. And both NY and WA are difficult states to get individual health insurance. Therefore, just go for whatever employer provides.
