  • Insurance suggestion requested from NKhatri

    Hi,
My parents are visiting US very soon and I am planning to get a good insurance for them. I went through some of teh insurances in the site and I have the following quesitons with that regard.

Could you please give your suggestions on this..
    1. What is the difference between Fixed and Comprehensive plans.
Is it only that Comprehensice plans are PPO. But when i do a search providers, I cold see the same doctors under both the plans.

    2. For both the insurance types, is that we need to pay ofr expenses and then alter claim form them or is it enough just to show the card.

    3. What is the differnece between IMG and SRI.

From your experiences so far, could you suggest me a good insurance provider that I should be taking for my parents.

    Thanks in Advance.

    Thanks,
    priramki

    1. There is a lot of difference.

    Read https://www.insubuy.com/guide/terms.jsp?section=fixed
    and https://www.insubuy.com/guide/terms....=comprehensive

Regarding searching providers, I will take the example of Visitors Care (Fixed) and Protection America (Comprehensive).

Before you search for the providers list, please read what it says,

    https://www.insubuy.com/img-first-health-ppo-network/

    https://www.insubuy.com/img-first-health-ppo-network/

In Visitors Care, there is no PPO network. The link is provided only for your convenience of searching a doctor. (In fact, the link that is given is Visitors Care is taken from Protection America. Therefore, it gives the same providers.) The providers that you see in the network are NOT contracted with the insurance company for Visitors Care.

    2. Again, please read everything at
    https://www.insubuy.com/img-first-health-ppo-network/

    https://www.insubuy.com/img-first-health-ppo-network/

    It explains that in detail.

    3. Those are 2 different companies, just like Coke/Pepsi and Honda/Toyota.
SRI's fixed coverage plan is Inbound USA and comprehensive coverage plan is Liaision International. And similar rules apply in those 2 plans as I described in answer 1 and 2 above.

You can visit https://www.insubuy.com, enter your criteria and you will see various products from different companies. There are minor differences in different products in the same category. You can compare the plans side by side and look for the features that are more important to you and choose accordingly.

No matter which company buy the insurance from, I always recommend comprehensive coverage plan.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
    Thanks & Regards

      Mr.Khatri,
I have similar questions as asked by priramki. Hope it is ok for me to join in this thread. I will go through the answers you have provided.
My parents are around 60+ age group.

I prefer Comprehensive Coverage, but I have few questions for you -
      1. Among IMG and SRI, which company would u recommend? (I know this may be difficult question, but answer from u will help us). Which do u prefer and what is the reason?

      2. I prefer to take care of small expenses myself and hence I am ok with higher deductible - if so, what is the best coverage amount (would it be $100K, $250K which should I prefer?) I know this is upto individual taste - but if you were considering, what would u consider?

      3. As I mentioned my parents are around 60+ age group. One of my parents my Dad has diabetes - I know most plans dont cover pre-existing condition. But, what kind of treatments will be considered as "pre-existing" if diabetes patient? Will most be excluded?
I know u cannot give me "comprehensive" answer, and not going to hold u totally accountable. But, please give me an idea - if a person has diabetes, what kind of coverage will be practical?

      4. I do NOT live in East Coast - since ur office is in East coast, do u only help to provide broker service for East Coast or do u help folks anywhere in the USA?

      Thanks.

        1. Both are good companies. However, I recommend that you compare the plans in detail from both the companies side by side on our web site and look for the differences in the benefits. There are few distinct differences.

        2. Either $100k or $500k. If you want $250k, your choice become very limited as there only few companies that provides this. Neither IMG nor SRI has $250k.

        3. Anything related to diabetes will be excluded.

General ideas: (This may vary in invididual cases)
        * If diabetes causes heart attack, it will be excluded.
        * If you break your leg and it takes more time to heal, it would still be covered.
        * Regular check up, insulin etc. would be excluded.

        4. I have to live somewhere. And by chance, I happen to live in Virginia. However, location does not really matter. We provide service all across USA (in fact, all over the world.)

If I am in Virginia and you are in New Jersey, you are going to contact me by this forum, email, mail, fax or phone. If you are in California, it is still going to be same. Makes no difference. (I am in Herndon, VA and even if someone were staying in Fairfax,VA or Vienna, VA it would be same thing.)
        Thanks & Regards
