  • Insurance for parents

My parents aged 65 and 68 will be coming to US on a green card on Thu. They will stay with me in CA for some time and then spend time with my sister in
Denver, CO. You ask for state of residence in many of your plans. So I am
wondering if the above is an issue given that they may be in CA for 1 or 2
months only initially. I am considering the 6 month Visit USA program
initially (50K limit and 250$ deductible). Are there any features/ concerns
with this. Are there comparable other plans you are offering. My father has
had a bypass done 13 yrs ago; they both have high blood pressure. Would this
preclude any covereage for anything related to this. In the past when they
had visited, I had taken a plan from **** the fixed plan. We
havent had much chance to use these thankfully but do you have any comments wrt them. Awaiting your response at the earliest Thanks

I have a few more questions after going thru the plan you suggested:

For Protection America, is my foll. understanding correct:

    For non-preexisting:

Max out of pocket is Deductible (say 500$) + 20% of 5000 = 1500$ per year
    per person.

This applies even if I purchase policy for 3 months and renew in increments
    of 3 months.
or is it only per purchase period.

Date of Birth: If my mother's birth date is 11/1941 (she'll turn 65 in Nov)
I presume the 64 yr rate
will apply till then; will it automatically djust in Nov or continue till
    the time of next renewal.

What is Passport Plus? There is a mention in the brochure saying it is not
    applicable for CA.

      1. Your understanding about deductible and co-insurance is correct.
Deductible and co-insurance are once a year, even if you renew.

      2. When you renew the insurance after she is 65, you will have to pay the
      premiums according to age 65.

      3. Passport Protection Plus is a combined name for Protection America
(non-US citizens) and Protection International (US citizens).

      4. That wording is about to go away anytime soon when new brochures are
printed (Similar wording was there in Patriot America and they removed such
wording when they reprinted the brochures in 04/2006). However, if you are
not comfortable with that wording, you can buy Patriot America, available at
      https://www.insubuy.com/patriot-america-insurance/visitor-insurance/ or
Liaison International, also available on our web site at
      https://www.insubuy.com/patriot-america-plus/visitor-insurance/
