Pre-existing conditions visitors health insurance

I am shopping for an insurance for my mother.

I am inviting my mother and she is arriving on the 7 th of June. I was about to buy insurance from an Indian company but after listening to the horror stories I decided otherwise. My mother has BP slightly above than normal with no pre-existing conditions.
First I don't understand the scope of pre-existing conditions its very tricky-like appendicites-one person may be fine and then get appendcites pain also for example heart attack,or any medical diagnosis which wasn't detected before the person may have condition which never flared before in life but did due to change of place,climate etc..so my question is could you explain me the meaning of pre-existing conditions.

Also I am interested in buying a comphrehensive policy for my mother,could you assist me in doing so.

I had a question can I take the insurance after my mother arrives or I do I need to take the insurance before she arrives.I wanted to confirm if there is any such clause that the insured person has to be insured before he/she lands in the country.

You can do it either way. However, it is recommended that you get the insurance before she arrives here and make the insurance effective date one day in advance of the departure date to cover during the travel also.
