  • Visitors insurance for parents

    Hi Narendra,

I was really impressed with the amount of insurance information that is available on your website. I just wanted to introduce myself and explain the requirements for purchasing Insurance for my parents. Will look forward to your feedback in this regard. Will also like to talk to you incase of any questions if its possible...

My father is 63 years old, had a heart-attack in 1984 but since then he has been okay (goes for his regular walks etc, gets his yearly check ups). Recently he has had acute tooth pains and the dentist back in India is taking care of those problems (tooth removal etc.). Mom is 59 years old and has the usual joint pains most of the time.

Now they will be coming to US for 6 months, and I need an insurance that covers emergency cases (high fever that is not getting under control, any kind of accidents, acute tooth aches, heart stoke?? etc). I don't have much idea of what kind of bills can i expect from hospitals for such cases and that's why its difficult to understand if Fixed Benifit might be okay OR will Comprehensive be better (and also the total insurance amount 50,000 OR more). I do understand the difference between the two, but having trouble figuring out what too pick based on my requirements

I think if the expense is anywhere close to 50,000+ then it will be better to make a trip back to India (ASAP), as there are probably better medical care and that too free for my parents (as my father is a retd, Air Force Officer he gets almost free medical coverage at all the top hospitals in India).

I live in Boston and I was wondering if you can also provide of a list of Doctors/Hospitals that will accept the insurance that you suggest for my case. Not sure, but I assume having an Indian Doctor will probably be better as they may just be able to understand the situation a little better (let me know if you have any recommedations in this regard).

Will look forward to your comments.

    Thanks

I would try to answer your questions below. If you have more questions, please write me back or call us and we would be glad to help you.

    1. Pre-existing conditions:
Insurance company will pay for any new medical conditions or accidents or injuries that may occur after the effective date of the policy. It does not create any pre-existing conditions nor preventive check ups.
    Read more at https://www.insubuy.com/visitor-medi...ng-conditions/

    2. Fixed coverage plans are quite limited and what they cover is much below the actual expenses. Otherwise, they would no reason for any one to buy comprehensive plans and such comprehensive plans would not exist. We recommend everyone to buy comprehensive plans only. Read more at https://www.insubuy.com/visitors-insurance/

    3. In serious conditions that require urgent attention such as hospitalization, ICU etc, you may not be able to take the person back to India. Therefore, at least $100,000 of comprehensive coverage plan is recommended.

    4. You can look at various products available at https://www.insubuy.com/visitor-insurance/
For each product, second link is provider directory that explains how the plan works. In most of the plans, you can search right there for doctors/hospitals that accept that insurance.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
    Thanks & Regards
