  • Regarding insurance for dependents

    Hi,

I am travelling to Houston, TX on 31st Jan 2010. My company provides insurance coverage for me but not for my dependents when my stay is short term.

I am looking to buy insurance coverage for my spouse and kid (less than 2 years) which covers well baby checkup, immunization, dental, eye care and if possible pregnancy related expenses.

Please let me know the suitable/reasonable plans.

    Thanks,

    There is no such plan.

Short term plans are designed to cover any new medical conditions, injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy. None of them will cover any of the items you listed.

You can look at the plans at https://www.insubuy.com

      Hi,

Ok. But what is the difference between visitor insurance and short term insurance. Can I buy short term insurance for them ? They will be in US on dependent H4 visa. I am on h1B visa.

      Thanks,

Short term insurance is for US residents who have been staying in the US for some time.

Visitor insurance is for non-US citizens who are visiting US for short term, not just for B1/B2 visitors, for any non-US citizen.

Either way, none of them will cover any of thems you listed.
        Thanks & Regards
