About my experiences
Hi!This is zafeer. I have four rejections in my passport. All the four times I had gone I was pretty well and damsure of getting visa. For the first interview they asked for everything but after that they rejected just when I was just on the counter. My experience says(shouts) on me saying hey man these people they just PRE-DECIDE the visas issuances.Being confident ,etc......... are just myths and nostalgia. I believe that its just fatalistic. It totally depends on your luck(if vo doesn't want to give u visa but its there in ur luck then no one can take it from u).But be prepared with basic things like DS-forms,yours academic degrees, competitive exam outputs,D.D,etc. Dont apply again if rejected once but still if u want u can apply because I repeat again it just depends on ur luck not on any of the other factors stated by other people experiences.Give the same answers of the person who got visa then also u dont get a visa and I have seen people getting visa with all fake documents and also availing rejections although u are genuine with genuine doc(as in my case). So the conclusion is that its just fatalistic.Dont be crestfallen if u dont get a visa and dont get excited if u get a visa.(Because I repeat again its just fatalistic). According to me quota system and pre-deciding exists. After all this if u still want to apply then u can because it just depends on ur luck. Bye.

My VISA (F1) EXPERIENCE AT NEW DELHI
hi all, i have got my US VISA (F1) yesterday...now i want to share my experience with you ppl.
initial process i hope u know.
i hav bought 1 blue shirt n black jeans for my interview.
venue: new delhi us visa office.
now my slot was at 8 am, i reached there at 7 :40 am, after security checks (that was 30 min process) you hav to submit ur DS forms, SEVIS receipt , Passport Appointment leter,I20 HDFC receipt (yello, off white)at one window, person at that window will uploaded some info on his computer , enter something on ur DS, I20 and give u back all stuff, after it i have entered in a big hall where again a security check. now u hav to be in line for finger print (both index fingers), now you can use rest room there or go to Non Immigrent Line for ur final show. Now i was in the line.. i was very nervous, when i was the 4th from the 1st in the line i had surrenderd myself to GOD, now the show begins, my counter no. was 10 (whichever is free that time) a decent bald person was there in that window...
Me: Good morning sir, hw r u? (smile..)
VO : smile...fine, thank u
VO: so u r going to SDSU why??
ME: i wnt to do splzilization in wireless MM that's why i m going to sdsu
VO:ok why not india or other uni?
ME; this course in not available in india yet and also i hav searchrd for other uni but finally i found sdsu.
VO:ok hav u ever been to us
me:no
vo:any relatives in US
me:no
vo: u r going 1st time out of india?
me: yes sir?
vo: show me ur gre scores
me:here it is sir
vo:why verbal score is low?
me:sir gre is a computer based test, some of my initial ques went wrong thats why but my english poficiency is proven by my toefl high scores.
vo: u got high scors in toefl
me:yes sir
vo: that means u are comfortable in english
me:definitely sir
vo:hav u taken any bank loans
me:no sir
vo:than hw can u manage
me: i hav sufficient funds sir
vo: how much
me: **** **** * much
vo:assest or liquid
me:in terms of both
vo:ok so where ur relatives live in USA??? (look here he wanted to confuse me... very tricky!!)
me: sir i dont hav any relative in US.
vo: ok ok, so what u hav done here in india?
me: told
vo:what will u do after coming back?
me: after coming back to my country i will join any MNC here and serve the humanity at my level best.
vo:nice thoughts.. (very impressed)
vo:thank you sir.
then he typed something on his system and said... ok i m approving your visa u will get ur passport withing 3 days. then he put all my sevis,i20hdfc.passport ..(that bundle)
me:thank you sir, hav a nice day

frndz he even didnt check any of my documents except gre scores.
interview lasts only for 3-3.5 mins, that was really good, i wish you all a very god luck.
my advise for all applicants: 1. look confident
2. stay on your answers.
3. smile
4. greet him/her well, say thank you whereever required
5.arrange all your documents in business (harmonium) folder in a proper way.
6.english is a not big game,,, i m so-so in engish..just speak with full confidance and leave all on AL-MIGHTY.

Successful F-1 renewal.
Since I referred to other people's experiences a lot on this forum before I ventured into renewing my F-1 visa at the Chennai consulate (Jul 3 2007), I feel obliged to write about my experience. I am a continuing PhD student. My course started in Jan 2005. My first F-1 visa was issued in Aug 2001 for pursing MS and it expired in Aug 2006. During my stay in the US, I had worked for a company for about 6 months (on H-1B for the last one month and the remianing on OPT). I got back to school to start my PhD after that and reverted back to F-1 status. Apart from this I did a couple of internships in companies off-campus. COnsidering all this, I was a bit nervous before the interview. The change of status twice in between could have served as a reason for intent to immigrate (although H-1B is a nonimmigrant visa, it indicates work not study). To my surprise the visa interview went really cool. Although I saw a few rejects in front of me, it did not affect how my case was treated by the same VO. As with the other cases before me the VO assumed I was also a new student for first time F-1. After the initial "Hello, How are you?", she asked for my degree certificates and transcripts. Once she saw that I was a continuing doctoral student and had full support from the university (I think), she said she would not need all those and asked me to take them back. She did ask a couple of questions:
Q. Are you with the same university?
A. Yes.
Q. Are you working with the same Professor?
A. Yes.
Q. How much research do you think you have accomplished till now?
A. I would say about half of it. i still need to write my dissertation and submit it.
Q. Describe briefly your research?
A. (I had a well thought out answer -- a laymanish description of what I was working on without delving into too many details and not using any complicated and sensitive terms!)

After that she said I will get my stamped passport by courier. The research area question is the only place where I think a renewing student might face problems assuming all other aspects (funding, etc) are OK. Be well prepared for this question as it is bound to occur. Otherwise be cool and confident exhibiting you are not too excited this time and things will mostly work your way. And if you have an old passport make sure your surname and given names are separated in the first page. Otherwise although not a problem, it will lead to weird names ("FNU") appearing on your visa, as in my case :). Good luck!
