Best conversion rates Dollor to Rupee.
I am not personally concerned about time it takes, but look for the best possible rate. So, Indus remit worked well for me. Transferwise seems to be little complicated which is okay, but I can't believe that they charge 1% as the transaction fee. I started watching Ria, seems to be slightly better than Indus Remit in terms of conversion rate and no transfer fee(?). I might switch on to it.

It's good that we have many options these days, what really surprises me is, there are some folks, who have more than 1 rupee difference, compare to the best folks-Indus, SBI, Ria.

Another thing I would like to share, I think it's not a good idea to have accounts created and our debit care/bank account shared, with multiple folks. I have Kotak(click2remit), hopfully, I get some interest and time, to delete and done with them, soon:)

Most Reliable and Secured Services
I have been using RemitLite services for a very long time now and have been satisfied with their functionality. They have a process that takes a few days, but that is for the purpose of maintaining their security standards for the money you transfer. When i had transfered my money recently, it got transfered in 7 days and i got the exact transfer amount as they had mentioned. Their exchange rates are truely relaible and all thanks to RemitLite i can transfer money to my parents when and how i want.

Best money transfer site
Hello Friends
I would like to share two money transfer sites that I have been using for last 3 years being a NRI.

1) Ria money transfer - Ria provides best exchange rate just a little less than current international exchange rate. But absolutely no transfer fees. I would prefer using a debit card as even the first transfer gets completed in 4-6 hours.
2) Transferwise: Transferwise has the best exchange rate as compared to any other site that exist in the internet. But it applies some transfer fee.

Western Union- The best one at the moment
Now a days I a stuck with western union. They always give 40 paisa above Xoom. The transfer time will be 5 days (at the max, some time they complete the transfer in a few minutes). No service charge till $4999 (It is free even if we send $100). No monthly limits like Xoom or transfast.

First transfer will take 5 days. After that average is 2 days, some time they give us the fast 30 minutes transfer as a freebie.

Give it a try
I have almost used all the money transferring services and recent came across RemitLite. I won't say that its the best but since it provides good exchange rates i prefer it over others.

no one provider suits everybody
Many of us are willing to pay extra for faster speed and better customer service. However, if the cost of sending money is your primary criteria, there are 2 components to consider
- FX Markup: Transferwise doesn't apply markup plus there are two providers that USUALLY have the FX markup less than 0.5% if you are sending cash - WalMart and MoneyGram; other providers like Ria, MoneyGram (online), and Western Union tend to be in 0.5-1% FX markup range; other provider tend to apply a higher FX markup. The really confusing part is that all providers, except Transferwise, tend to apply vastly different markup on a daily basis and some change it even during the day, so you want to compare FX rates right before you are sending money
- Transfer fees: in comparison to the FX markup, providers usually keep their fees much more stable, sometimes not changing those for months. Each provider has a different fee structure that could be vastly different based on a method of sending money. For example, today, providers like Western Union, Ria or IndusInd are not charging any fees but only if you send money using a certain method (from bank account for WU and IndusInd and from a debit card for Ria). Transferwise, which doesn't make money on the FX markup, charges relatively high fees which makes its overall costs not the best.
