B2 Visa Denial, need another solution
Hello,
I am a US citizen and my sweetheart is a Nigerian. He went for his B2 Visa interview on Monday and was denied based on 214b. not sure how he can overcome that, he does not own his home, he's  young and single.  We are thinking we might have a better chance of seeing one another if I get a Visa to go see him instead.  I have more issues though, single, no children, not a lot of income, no real estate in my name, no travel history to speak of, only Canada and that was before a passport was even needed to go there from the US, my age might be in my favor, but not really, not sure how they consider mid 50's, that may be the only thing in my favor.  Since I am a US citizen trying to visit Nigeria will they be less likely to think I'm trying to migrate there?  We want to do Fiance Visa but we have to meet physically before we can apply.  We need advise as to how to get to that initial physical meeting. Any in-site one may have on this matter would be greatly appreciated.  Thank You In Advance!

VO: How many days do you wish to travel for?
Me: 20 days.

VO: Whom will you be visiting and staying in the USA with?
Me: I have my maternal and paternal uncle there in San Diego and SF, so with them.

VO: how long do you plan to travel to each place.
Me: San Diego for 12 days and then LA and SF for 4 days each with my uncle.

VO: What do your uncles do there?
Me: My paternal uncle is working as a senior group director at XX and maternal unce is a CPO in XX

VO: I see you are also working as a software engineer here.
Me: Yes, I am

VO: what do your parents do here in India?
Me: Mom is a single parent, works at a School as a XX. Dad passed away XX years back

VO: (looks at my empty passport for few seconds going through pages).

VO: (types something for 30-40 seconds) I am really sorry currently, but as per your circumstances/condition I am really not able to issue you a visa right now. You may surely try again after some time. Take care.

I am willing to travel to Australia/Singapore end of the year to improve my travel history. Will that help?

Applying for b1/b2 for the very first time
Hello everyone. I’m an undergraduate medical student in my final year of study. I am applying for b1/b2 elective to attend few electives in USA for about 5 months.
I have no previous travel history. I have got my acceptance letters with me and also other sponsor related documents and step1 score report. What are my chances of visa acceptance. Also would like to be informed about any helpful suggestions. Right now I don’t think of giving Step2 or cs. So I would like to attend these electives and then come back to my home country.
Thank you.

Malaysian Widow Applying for B2 Visa
Hi everyone,

I have a visa interview coming up in a few days. Here's a bit of info I filled up in my DS-160: -

Age: 34, widow
Children: A son, turning 5 years old
Job: IT Executive for 3 years and 3 months
Salary: Net of RM3100 per month (been saving RM500 a month)
How to pay for trip: Self
House: Yes
Past travels: Neighbouring countries, Japan, Australia, New Zealand
Past visa: J1 (Work & Travel program, didn't overstay)
Planned days in US: 5 days (marathon and travel)

FYI, my son will not be going with me on this trip and traveling by myself. He will stay with my parents and sisters in Malaysia.

I would like to ask something regarding the interview: -

> How do I answer the question, simple yes or no, or can I elaborate more without the VO asking?
> Should I project confidence or that will look distasteful?
> What are my chances?

Thank you everyone for reading and I welcome any replies :))

B2 Visa for Widowed Mom - should I sponsor?
Hi,

I am a student working on F-1 OPT and I intend to invite my widowed mom on visitor visa to the U.S.

She has previously traveled to Australia twice to visit my sister (the two of us are her only children). She has an apartment, a car, and fixed deposits in her name from which she receives some monthly income.

I was initially willing to sponsor her visit visa, but I was advised that a self-sponsored application always has much higher chance of approval, and given her travel profile, assets, and strong ties to the country, she should apply independently.

If I go the self-sponsored route, I am afraid, she might not have enough liquid cash in her bank account to show at the time of interview.

I am having a hard time deciding if her visa application should be self-sponsored or should I sponsor it? Her visit visa to Australia was self-sponsored, based on her assets, not liquid cash.

Please provide some advice in this regard.

Thanks!
