Cleared L1B from Mumbai Consulate
Hi All,

I cleared the L1B visa interview on 08-Sep-2009 in Mumbai.

My experience is as follows:
My interview was scheduled at 8:30 am. so I reached almost 45 mins early, considering Mumbai traffic it is better to start early.
For L1B they collected the passport, I797, 2 copies of I129S and the Demand Draft outside the consulate and immediately gave me the token number. Then they asked me to come back after half an hour as the processing of the draft, etc would take half an hour. After that when i came back i was called inside for Security check and Finger Printing. Then I was asked to wait for my interview call. After around half an hour my token number was announced. Following are the questions asked by the Visa Officer:
1. For how long have you worked for your company?
2. Who is your client?
3. What service do you provide your client?
4. For how long would you be staying in US?
5. In which office in US you would be working?
6. Won’t you be going to the client’s office?
7. What is your education?
8. Do you have specialized knowledge?

After that she stamped the 2 copies of my I129 and said that I would require it at the port of entry. That's it. My visa was granted.

Tips:
1. Please carry an umbrella as the weather of Mumbai is very uncertain. Umbrellas are allowed inside the consulate.
2. Dress formally as that gives the overall impression. Guys should wear a tie and blazer. Girls should be very neatly dressed with hair combed well.
3. Wash your hands properly before going for the interview as there will be only 3 chances given for fingerprinting. After that you will be sent back.
4. Greet the visa officer with a broad smile and be very attentive to whatever he/she says.
5. Do not fumble/stumble while giving the answers.
6. Look confidently in the officer's eye while giving the answers.
7. Rehearse the interview with a friend prior to the main interview. This boosts your confidence immensely. It has worked for me.
8. Do not carry liquid items, cheweing gum, sharp objects etc. If you do so you would end up wasting your time as well as others time. Please value time.
9. You can carry all your documents, folders, etc in a polythene bag, that is allowed inside the consulate.
10.Please do not fake any documents as the punishments are severe leading to even imprisonment.

And remember folks that this is just an interview. There is no need to panic. So all the best to all!
