B1 Visa Approved
Great site. It helped me a lot. I got only 1Hr to prepare for interview and I saw only this site for that 1Hr….

I have been to B1 VISA interview on 11-Mar-2011at Chennai. I had attended the interview at 7:30 AM slot. I have been to consulate at 6:45 AM.

People were in queue for 8.30AM Slot also. If u ask security person they will help you. They will queue the lines based on time slot. One of my friend is also with for B1 visa for 7.45AM slot. For 7.30AM, it was one line and for him it’s was another line. So don’t worry about time & line. U will be in, if u r in-time also.

Rest of the points for security check, etc…are covered in the other postings, So I am only posting My observations.

1. I was wearing formal dress and wearing my company ID card
2. Carry documents to be submitted in a file and one more file for original documents and some cash (Rs:1000/- for personal emergency. I saw few people taking money form others to take photo, etc…)

3. I was asked to submit only passport, Interview and DS-160 confirmation from, along with my company provided covering letter with US contact to VO, rest of invitation letter and all other documents u can keep with you.

4. Don’t rush in to the counters when it opens, wait for your token no and go to the line at that window. There will be a black line marked for each queue. You should not cross. Wait until VO calls your no. if there is no person in the counter (u might be the 1st person) or previous person left the counter also. Don’t go to counter to stand in front of the VO.

I don’t understand why people will rush in to the counter when VO opens the counter with out calling any token no. it’s like going for cinema/rail ticket. Really VO gets irritated with such behavior and it impacts the other people. I witnessed the same.

Following are the discussion between me and VO

Me: Good morning
VO: Good morning
Me: Handed over the file to VO
VO: Why are you going to USA?
Me: I told about my visit purpose. (Product Demo to xxx customer)
VO: How long with your firm?
Me: 2Yrs 10 Months
VO: What is the use of these products?
Me: I was giving some base for understanding the product
VO: interrupted me saying that u r telling me the scope of the product development, tell me how these products will be useful to your xxx customer
Me: I told how and where these products useful
VO: why do you need to go for demo?
Me: we have already demonstrated through Video conf and webx. But now xxx customer wants us to visit their office and demo it even for it’s suppliers.
VO: (Golden words for visa are repeated for me) Your Visa approved. U will get it in a week time.

Few more questions from other VO:

Why do u need visa for 10 weeks?
- No proper justification---- Rejected
Why u have not visited other then Asia (for tourist visa)?

- No proper answer---- Rejected

Why u only need to go/why not some one else?

When u got married?(dependent visa)

Do u have visiting schedule? Pl show me

Can u tell me the schedule breakup?

VO: Why u wan to go to US?
Xyz: I am going to Canada, so I want to visit US also.
VO: Pl speak normal. I can understand.
VO: Who will take care of you in US?
Xyz: (No change slang. she was trying US slang to impress the VO) My ‘ant’ is in US and she is going to take acre of all. She is in India now and also going to US at the same time.
VO: Pl madam speak normal. Why are you not going with her?
Xyz: (No change slang) my son exams are there so I can’t join ‘ant’.
VO: who is going to fund you for trip?
Xyz: I am getting 3lks/Yr income
VO: Sorry, I can’t approve you the visa due to xxx (give a paper), u can contact later. Thank you

Lesson: pl don’t try some thing which u can’t manage.

Hope this will help you……….All the best
