L1 B Blanket Approved
My L1 B Blanket Visa was approved today 28th September.

My initial appointment was on 18th September and since the consulate was closed last week, my appointment was re-scheduled. I had to book the appointment with the new process and through a new site http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/. With this new visa processing I had to take two appointments 1 for biometrics finger print collection and other for the consular interview.

Bio-metrics:
This was scheduled on 27th September around 2.30 PM and I reached there by 1: 20 PM. I had a great difficulty finding this place since no one knew about US Consulate OFC as it is a new location. Even my cab driver had difficulties find this place even though he was a localite. Finally after a lot searching we ended up at the OFC. My suggestion is just follow the address and do not ask the local people about the US Consulate OFC as they will think it is the Main US Consulate (consular interview place) at Anna Salai and will direct you guys to go there. The OFC is in the same building as of TPL House (you can use this as the landmark).

Now coming to the bio metrics collection, it was very easy and simple procedure. Once you are in they will verify your passport, DS 160 and appointment copy and will issue a yellow card and will direct to go inside. Once inside there are so many counters and they will call the token number. There they will take your passport and appointment copy and will start taking the finger prints, once done they will return the passport and appointment copy. This completes the finger print collection.

Consular interview:

My interview was at 10 AM but I reached the consulate by 8:40 AM and they did let me in.

Note: Keep your passport, appointment copy and DS-160 handy as it is verified at each and every stage.

- Once you get inside the building the first step is the security verification where all your folders, wallets are checked and you will be frisked.

- After that you will be asked to get inside and a token will be issued in the counter opposite to the door you enter.

- Once you receive the token you will have to take a seat and lookout for your token number in the screen near you. They will call the token number and will assign a counter. Once there, they will verify the documents and they only need 3 sets of Form I-129S, Passport, DS 160 and MRV receipts (I had huge set of documents as the petition was prepared by attorneys in the US).

- Next step is verification of the finger prints in the last counter. They will only take left hand 4 fingers.

- After this you will be guided to the next building, the place where the consular interview will happen.

- Once there, you will be asked to deposit the $500 DD (29,000 INR, fraud prevention fee) for L1 Blanket Visa only.

- After that you will have to take a seat and look up for your token number to be assigned to a counter to have the interview with the consular.

- Visa Interview
(Started with a smile and kept it throughout and also maintaining the eye contact)
Me: Good Morning
VO: Good Morning

Me: How are you?
VO: How are you doing?
Me: Doing well.

VO: How long you have been working with the current company?
Me: 2 years 6 months

VO: What is your specialized knowledge?
Me: Explained (Patiently VO listened to everything I said)

VO: What is your salary in India?
Me: INR -----------

VO: Where will you work in US?
Me: Place name

VO: How long you have been working with the current company? (Asked the same question again)
Me: 2 years 6 months

VO: How long you will stay in US?
Me: Told as per the petition

She kept on typing something in the computer and finally, "I'm approving your Visa and you will need to carry 2 sets of Form I-129S when you travel to US" by saying that she stamped “Approved” on the forms and handed back to me. She said passport will be sent to the pickup location you have specified and you will get the SMS and an email regarding this.

Me: Thank you.

Me: Have a great day.
VO: You too.

Then I headed to premium delivery service of passport counter with the form filled and paid Rs. 300 to get the passport at the home address.

Entire process was very smooth and all the staff members were very helpful.

Piece of advice: Greet everyone with the smile and acknowledge their help with a "Thank You", have a right attitude, dress in a presentable manner and look professional and keep smiling :)

Good luck guys!!!

Cheers!!
