My L1A Blanket stamping was on 5th Mar at Chennai Consulate. As everyone suggested before me, please do not go too early. It gets very crowded and delayed too. My interview was scheduled at 9:30 and they allowed me into the consulate at 10:10:-) My interview happened at 10:45. It was a quick 50-60 second interview.
After the consulate person lets you line up for the day to enter into the consulate building, there is a small stall outside the consulate. You need to give Rs. 10 to keep your Pen drives/Phones/CD etc. any electronic/magnetic item. Do not forget to take the token from the stall. I saw one family lost their token and didn't get their belongings. I mentioned this separately because although I saw the stall before standing in the line, I didn't understand the use of it so had to come back from the line later to deposit my phone.
Me: Good Morning.
VO: Good morning...morning .... (types something on computer)
VO: Please give me your documents
Handed over my papers
VO: (Looks at the papers) You work for ABC?
Me: Yes.
VO: Who's your client?
Me: XYZ
VO: Will you be working at client location?
Me: Yes but as I am employee of ABC, my payroll will be with ABC.
VO: What role are you travelling as?
Me:Program Manager - I will be managing 4 Projects for the client XYZ with a portfolio of $ZZ million per annum.
VO:How many people will directly report to you?
Me: XYZ (>15)
(VO keeps the passport in a drawer behind him, I knew my visa is approved :-))
VO: How many direct+indirect?
Me: XYZ (>60)
VO: So, how many at offshore? (Counts himself)
ME: I Answer, VO agrees.
VO:How long are you working for ABC? (VO Stamps the petition in the approval box)
Me: XX years.
VO: Who will you be reporting to?
Me: to the [designation] who looks after such and such businesses.
VO: Who does the [above answer] report to?
Me: He reports to the [designation], he's the such and such of our company.
VO: then turns to the papers , stamps and tells me Visa is approved, please carry these papers when you travel
Me: Thank you, Have a nice day !(smiling)
VO: Oh you too ...
