Initially my PA date was on Sept 18th and as you all know, that particular week, all appointments were cancelled. So my company re-scheduled the appointment to Oct9th and Oct10th.
I travelled with my wife and 2 kids.
Oct 9th OFC office: In the HDFC receipts, my company had wrongly entered my first name and my daughter's surname in the form. I immediately noticed this and asked my company, and they said there should not be any issues. Luckily the OFC people also were of the same opinion. I and my wife had bimetrics and photo, for my kids they took photo, scanned and uploaded to the system.
Oct 10th US Consulate: I had my appointment at 12.00 noon, reached the consulate at 11.20. The security let me in at 11.30(looking at my 2 kids, 3 and 1 year old ). Once we went in, at the first counter they verified passport, appointment letter, DS160 and issued a token, where they again did some verification and said that the DD's need to be changed as the currency exchange rates are revised :(. Initially he advised me to come back with the corrected amount and later he was nice enough to say that they have some cash and I can get refund, infact he even asked me if I can make a payment using my credit card :D. Later he asked us to proceed to another building where the actual interview is conducted. During this time, my 2 kids were very cranky and had to hear from the security :(. My bad... We moved on to the other building and I went to the cash counter, the lady took my DD's and she did some verification and refunded me the difference amount. Moved on to the next room, there we waited for 5 min and I went to counter for my interview.
Me: Good morning officer
VO: Very good morning,(to my wife) how long have you been married and your husbands birth date.. After my wife answered, he said please go and have your seat, will ask some questions to your husband.
VO to me: How long with YYYY company?
me: 8y 9 months
VO: very long time
VO: How many reporties ?
Me: answered as per the petition
VO: Have u travelled to US before?
Me: yes, i have travelled twice, to YYYY state and YYYY state
VO: How long have you been with this CLient?
Me: 3 months
VO: Can I see all your old passports please
VO: I am approving your VISA, please carry these 2 copies of documents and provide 1 copy to your HR and 1 with you while you are travelling.
Me: Thank you officer, you have a good day then
VO: you too
