Happy Diwali and a very big thank you to all those who shared their experiences here. It helps a big deal to calm down those nerves when you know what to expect.

I had my OFC appointment scheduled for 9:00 AM and my visa interview was at 11:00 AM on 31 Oct.

I reached the OFC center at 8:25 and was let in at 8:35. The process took about 15 mins and I was out by 8:50.
With still over 2 hours to go before my interview, I returned to the hotel which was about 10 mins drive from both the OFC center and the consulate. (Tip: Plan your stay at Alwarpet/nearby region to save time and avoid jitters about being late for your appointment).

I reached the consulate 30 mins before the interview, and had to wait at the check post. They let you past the check post 10-15 mins before the appointment time. There will be a tin shed deposit center just past the check post. You can deposit your phone/bags here for Rs. 10. Then I had to join another queue for security check. They also check you passport and appointment letter here and give you a serial number.

Once inside, you will be asked to wait, a guy will call you up according to you serial number and verify your documents and arrange them in order. Then you are asked to go to an adjacent building. Here another guy will direct you to a window where they once again check your passport and left hand finger prints and ask you to go to the cash window. Deposit your fraud prevention fee here and then wait for your serial number and interview window number to show up on the screen.

Here is how my conversation went with the the VO.

Me: GM, how are you doing?
VO: Fine, how about you?
Me: Good, thank you
VO: So which company do you work for?
Me: YYYY
VO: What does your company do?
I describe the companies activities and my business in a couple of lines.
VO: What do you do for your company?
I state my duties and my product briefly in a single line
VO: And what are you going to do in US?
I inform him about my duties, again in a single line
VO: What will me salary in the US
Me: YYYY
VO: Why do they need you in the US?
I state that I have been working with this product line for 3.5 years and the products developed by our other global offices which I have experience with.

I was expecting further questions, but he starts stamping the I 129s. Returns 2 copies saying "these are for you, your visa is approved".

I wish him a good day and leave. I did not know about the option of getting the passport delivered to your adders (after paying a fee of Rs. 300). WIll have to collect it from the Blue Dart center.

Just smile and be confident. Good Luck!!!
