L1B Blanket Extension Approved
Many thanks to all the people who have provided immense amount of information on the process and preparation required for the US visa interview.

My interview was in Chennai for L1B Blanket category (extension). There are gates in front of the consulate now which allows people with appointment slots in next 15 minutes and 30 minutes. After you get your documents scanned in the line outside the consulate, you enter the consulate and send your documents through security scan. Credit cards are allowed (for paying fees). Once you are clear through security scan, you move to a hallway where you can tell the coordinator that you are there for L1B-blanket and they will provide an instructions sheet to arrange your documents. You only need to provide (as far as I remember) the I-129S (three copies), first page of I-797 (three copies), DS-160 of primary applicant (this should be the same DS-160 which would have been stamped at VAC during biometric interview) and passport of the primary applicant (family members passports not to be included at this stage, if visa is to be approved the consular officer would ask for it during interview). Then get the documents checked with the coordinator and go to the other building. Once you enter the queue and when you turn comes, you will be asked to pay the 500 dollars fees. You can pay using USD currency notes also. Next fingerprinting verification for adults happens at next counter and then you enter the main hallway for interview. For us we were asked to directly go to the coordinating officer (may be since we had kids with us), as soon as we went to her, the person directed us to move to an open queue (no wait in the queue). When the person in front of us got done with his interview we were called by the officer. After greetings, the following questions were asked (he asked for passports of family members and visa fees receipt in between):
- What is the name of your organization?
- Where are you going in the US?
- What is your salary?
- Years of experience?
- What is your project?

Then there was a long pause as the officer continued typing into his system. Then he asked two questions to my wife:
- How many years have you two been married
- How old are your kids

Then he said that our visas are approved and handed us the two stamped copies of I-129. In two days our Passport status is showing ready for pickup at the Bluedart location.

All the very best to the other candidates!!!
