L1B Extension - Approved
Hi All,

First of all I would like to really thank this forum. It really gave me a lot of ideas and the experiences shared by all the folks was invaluable.

Now coming to my case, I attended my L1B Extension interview at Delhi, US consulate.

With regard to the preparation perspective, one has to be slighlty more careful about the response in this case as compared to applying a fresh L1B.... here is are transcripts from my interview

Me: Hello, How are you doing Sir (with a smile)
VO: I'm good... your documents , pls?
Me: (handed over the docs to him)
VO: (Spent about 10 secs looking at my docs and my Passport) and then finally asked - " So you have already been to the US?
ME: Yes sir, I have and this is a extension application of my current Project.
VO: So are you still working with the same company, for whom your Original L1B was granted?
ME: Yes Sir, it is the same. and i am also working for the same client and Project.
VO: Ok, Looks good... ( he was quickly glancing at my passport ) and your VISA is Approved and you will be getting your passport in 3-5 days. have a good day..
Me: Thank You and you too

over all, my interview was pretty quick and short, based on my observation, the mind set of the VO was that if the candidate is still with the same client, project for which your original L1B was approved, then getting an extension is not hard. else, probably, you are going to face lot of questions.

and in Delhi consulate, they have dedicated counters for each type of VISA, So all L1B where interviewed by one person on the day. and he seemed to be pretty knowledgebale of IT stuffs..for some of the other candidated who attaneded fresh L1B's he was rejecting when they were quoting indistry standard technologies (Java, dot net, PL/SQL, Oracle DBA, etc..)as their specialized knowlwged as any one can get trained on them so why are you being sent and so on.

So be careful in giving a response that is not a common skill and also how you have managed to pick up the speacialized skill and how you are going to use it for your US assignement.

All the best folks!!!
