Transit visa for Germany
My wife and son are coming to USA from India soon by an Air India flight.They have a valid H4 visa stamped on their passport.Their flight would be stopping in Frankfurt for a few hours and they don’t need to change flights as the same flight would be coming to Chicago from New Delhi. Do they need a Transit visa, if yes then do they need to get it stamped at a German embassy in India or can they get it at Frankfurt itself and is there any application fee for it.
This is the reply I got from the german embassy in chicago ''yes they do need a transit visa. They may apply at the Consulate or they may get it at the Frankfurt Airport. Because of "Until further notice" please check our website 2 weeks befor their departure, if rules have changed. unfotunately I do not have any information how the procedure is at the Frankfurt Airport and how much the fee is.''
so I am more confused can anyone clarify.
