My OFC and the consulate interview were scheduled on the same day in Chennai. The OFC was at 8am and the consulate at 11am. The day started with a hiccup, my taxi guy arrived at 7:45 instead of 7:00 for which i had booked. I arrived at the consulate at exact 8am and I was allowed inside. They verified the DS160 confirmation, Passport and appointment confirmation and let me proceed for bio-metric and photo counter. The entire process took less than 15 mins.

I reached the consulate at 10:30 am for the 11am appointment. Stood in a queue for a few mins, they verified the DS 160 confirmation, Passport and appointment letter and stuck a token number on my passport. This token number was used during the entire process. I proceeded towards the security check, they then let me to the room where the document verification counters were there. My token number flashed on the screen and at the counter they bundled 3 copies each of I129 and I797 with my passport and the DDs and gave it to me. These are the only documents which are most important; all the other documents such as copy of marksheets, BEP letter, support letter are additional documents. I was then sent towards a counter where my finger print verification was done. After this I was made to wait for a few minutes and then sent towards the other building where the actual interview takes place. I deposited my DDs in one of the counters here. While standing in the queue for this I observed the interview being taken for candidates in the adjacent counter. It was a lady officer who was patiently asking questions; she was very gracious as well. For instance, there was one teenaged girl who had come for student Visa, she was from some rural part of Tamilnadu and had a bit of difficulty in understanding English. The officer made sure that the girl understood the question that she was asking by repeating the questions a few times and also using simple terms. I was impressed. After depositing the DDs I sat and looked at the screen for my turn of the interview. When my token number flashed I stood in the queue, the guy before me was from a reputed Indian services company, I suppose it was for H1, it was cleared. The officer was courteous. She asked me the following questions:

1) Your client
2) Which place will you work
3) Salary I am getting in India
4) Onsite salary
5) What would I do during my stay
6) What does the tool do exactly
7) The other geographies in which my tool was deployed.
8) How long would I stay

She had a look at her screen for a few seconds and then stamped my I129 copies and returned back to me and said my visa was approved and greeted me. The entire process was very smooth and I personally had a good experience. I did observe a few officers doing the interview, each of them were very gracious and were asking questions with a lot of patience. Some of you in this thread of said that the Visa’s would already been pre-approved, but I have no clue on that.
