First of all sincere thanks to the forum for sharing the visa experiences. It provided me the confidence and helped me to prepare for the visa interview and eventually get it approved. Its my turn to share my experience and hopefully visa aspirants can benefit from my post.

I had Biometrics at OFC and my visa interview appointment on the same day on 18 Aug 2014 in Chennai. Biometrics was at 8:00 am and visa appointment was at 10:30 am. I was little sceptical initially whether I can make to the visa interview on time, given the OFC is at Cenatoph road and Consulate is near Gemini Flyover (about 5 kms and should take max 30 mins in traffic).

I had booked a cab, so that I can travel comfortably and need not worry about vehicle parking issues.

Reached OFC at 7:45 am and was let in at 8:10 am. Completed the biometrics, (verification of passport, DS160 and appointment letter, finger print scanning and photograph) at 8:25 am. But I had enough time to make it and reached the consulate by 9:00 am. I did not to go and wait in the queue that early for 10:30 am appointment, so was sitting in the cab itself until 9:45 and joined the queue. Unfortunately, even then it took a lot of time to get in and was allowed only at 11:45 am. Then the process was quite fast. I was asked to wait for my turn after initial document screening and visa processing fee payments were completed.

My turn came for the visa interview...I was little tensed though I was very confident that I will definitely get my visa approved.

My VO was a gentleman and he greeted me Good Afternoon. I wished him as well. Here are the questions:
1) Which company do you work for?
I said ZZZ
2) Which client will you work for?
I said YYY and gave a brief description about my client
3) What will be your role in US?
I described my role in US. Program Manager...managing portfolio of projects, budget approval etc. etc
At this point itself, I realised that VO had decided to approve my visa. He proceeded to type something in his system.
4) Who will be your manager?
5) Whom your manager will report to?
6) What will be approx salary in US?

Then he said the Golden words "Your visa is approved".

Few tips:
1) Do your own visa documentation. Right from your roles/Responsibilities letter, Resume or any other documentation. DO IT YOURSELF and DO NOT COPY from others. If you are passionate about getting your visa, then you need to do it. This will help you to carry confidence all the way till visa interview.
2) Be honest, Always believe that you are eligible and WILL get the visa approved.
3) Do your mock interview sessions and be prepared with possible questions.
4) VO has 5 minutes of time to determine and judge whether you belong to Executive cadre, so have your most significant and appealing points first. Show that you have required authority and decision making power in the interview.
5) Importantly, do not bother listening to others in the visa interview at consulate. Do not make last minute changes to the answer script that you had in mind.
6) Your body language and confidence are very very important. Don't get tensed, always believe you will get your visa through.

All the best!!!
