We have already been waiting for the decision on my adjustment of status I-485 case for more than 5 months (marriage based green card). I filed on June 15, 2013. One month later I had biometrics followed by EAD and another month later we had interview on September 3, 2013. We had separate interview. Possibly my case had some red flags for the officer such as difference in age, my tourist visa, too fast decision on our marriage. Upon the end of interview we were handed the notice saying our case is being held for review at least for 120 days. 4 months passed and I called USCIS asking what was going on. I was said that they need 30 days more. I called them back again in 30 days but still no answer. They said call next week, that I’m still within normal processing time frame for California and that the decision is close. I also tried to make an E-request on USCIS web site but I wasn’t able to for the same reason (still within time frames). The last letter from them was invitation for an interview. Who can advise what can take them so long? What are possible ways of developing my story? Is it normal practice? Can anybody get some statistics? Can you wait for so long, out of normal terms and then to get green card without additional documents requests? Thank you.
