2/24/20 Houston marriage based gc interview experience:
The interviewing officer (IO) escorted us from the entrance to his office without any exchanges. After reaching his office, we started off with swearing in. Asked my wife (citizen) about how we met and ended up marrying each other. We had our short and sweet story for that. From now till the end he kept on adding/rearranging all the paperwork in my file. Then he asked for photo id's. Then he asked for latest entry date, that we got updated since we traveled after filing our forms. By the way he had pulled this information up on his system within seconds. Then he started asking for other documents: 2019/latest tax returns, Job verification letters and pay stubs, birth certificates. Then he asked me to pull up all documents establishing legitimate marriage: home/auto insurance papers, joint leases, joint property tax papers, bank statements (although we don't have joint accounts) . I told him we are authorized users on each other's credit accounts. He asked why we don't have joint accounts and heard our explanation and about authorized users and was satisfied. Then he tried to get me into trouble asking why wife was sharing only 1/3rd beneficiary of life insurance . Then he started going through our forms and confirming names/dobs/addresses. Then he asked if we have some photos albums etc. to show our time together. I took them out but he didn't check a single one. Then he started asking the yes/no questions randomly. All answers were NO, except on citations I asked him whether speeding tickets counted as citations for the filing purpose and he started updating the form to change my answer to yes but was not too worried about it. He asked whether all those were cleared (paid the fine/took defensive driving) and we moved on. No other surprises. At the end he mumbled something about i864 affidavit of support and Medicare which was not clear and he pointed at some letter stuck up on his wall. It was still not clear and he mentioned that's something he has to say. Didn't seem like it mattered much. Then he let us know that he doesn't need any further documents and he will put our file for review and should get approval by the end of day. Gave us a letter saying similar things. He said since we were married over 2 years I will get 10 year GC and would be eligible to file for naturalization in 3 years. Asked us if we had questions and I asked if I need to report to SSO and he didn't seem to be sure about that. While walking out I asked him what his name was and he said that we can find that on the letter. Took our DLs for photocopying and asked us to wait outside. We stepped out of the building and within minutes I got an update that new card is in production.

Hi all! My husband and I filed in June as well - our interview is coming up next week and I have a couple of questions I keep trying to post but every time it says post unapproved? Is there a way for me to fix this?

    Thank you!

Had interview today, very easy, asked about name, marriages, jobs. Then those ‘have you ever’ questions on the i485. The interviewer was very nice.

    See the timeline below.

Wow!! I'm so sorry they did that to you. Very unfortunate. Did you get your letter already? What's the reason for the denial?

Sorry about that. I saw on your signature:
    06/13/2019 mailed my appilcation ( I -131,i-765 ,I-485 )
are those the only forms you sent? I read that now if you don't send form I-864 they deny the case without RFE or interview. I also read about I-130A but I don't know if that one is sent with I-130 or with I-485 (if 485 is sent after I-130 approval).

    Hello June 2019 Filers!
    San Diego CA.
Husband of a US Citizen (C9)

It was a roller coaster ride for me to take this AOS route to become a legitimate green card residence here in states.

I didnt hire a lawyer. I used an online company and for around $300 it helped / guided us to fill out the paperwork with their online program. We were able to upload everything and receive support throughout it all. When we finished they printed it out and mailed it to us. I say for very complicated cases you should def hire a lawyer or if you have the financial ability to hire one...and if you do hire one then there is no excuse for receiving a RFE for sending in the wrong birth certificate. That is common knowledge, Anyway, I hope your case progresses soon for you . I also received a RFE--my own fault, i forgot to put the English translation of my wife's BC. But once I submitted the FRE, my case started to get lots of updates. Good luck!

Just got notified of an RFIE how is it possible that we have a very expensive lawyer who didn’t think to submit a long form birth certificate and now more then five months (almost six) everything is on hold for this. So frustrated.
