9/08 RFIE sent for lack of I-864 (even though I am EXEMPT)
9/09 Got email notification about RFIE
9/14 I received the RFIE in mail
9/22 Responded to RFIE with I-864


I recently filed for a marriage based AOS (married to USC). I am also exempt from filing I-864. My exemption is based on the fact that I have worked in USA for more than 40 continuous quarters. What was your I-864 exemption based on? It is weird to see USCIS asking for forms that you are exempt from. What did you end up submitting? A fully completed I-864 even though you are exempt?

Self-completed submission. Submitted I-485 concurrently with I-130 - US Citizen Spouse.

1. 9/22/2020 - Sent to Chicago Lockbox (I130, I130a, I485, I765, I131, I-864, I-944)
2. 9/23/2020 - Application received.

Nothing since... Starting to worry that I've messed up my credit card authorization...

I'm still waiting for something to happen. My package arrived at Chicago LB 2 days after applevinegar's package but processing is at least one week behind!

I was also waiting to see if you had some updates since our dates were so close! I would say:
1. keep track on the check/credit card, money is the key indicator that they accept the case (they took the money/cashed the check 9/29 and showed up in my account 6am on 10/1, i set an email alert for any transaction over 1k.)
2. and then wait for the text, 3 to 5 days.
3. if the case has been over a month and nothing happened (i did read some cases took longer than a month), maybe try to email the lockbox. i c&p this: Lockbox

If you have a question about a filing mailed to the Chicago, Dallas, or Phoenix Lockbox you may email us at [email protected] and we will answer your email as soon as possible. Please include the form number, receipt number, petitioner and/or applicant name, and mailing address. Do not include Social Security numbers in emails.

Examples of Lockbox questions include:

• The reason your submission was rejected;
• How or where to submit an application or petition that should be filed at one of the three Lockbox locations; and
• Filing more than 30 days ago and not yet receiving a receipt notice.

but from what i read, it takes 1-2 weeks to get a reply, so you can also try calling them, but may end up they tell you to email the lockbox.

Besides that, all we can do is wait, wait and more wait...

just some personal experience and some reading from different sites, USCIS tend to send out those message at night nowadays and especially sunday night, dk why. I actually got my texts 8pm Sunday night. Also, like sandeep.iiit said, it takes 2-3 weeks for them to send the texts, your probably gonna hear from them these few days. if they cash your check or charge your credit card, expect messages/emails like 3-5 days later.

I am waiting for my NOA anxiously as well, good luck!

For my application that I sent in August, it took them 2 weeks to issue the mobile notifications. So yours is pretty close I am guessing. Anytime now. I am assuming your attorney gave your number and email for notifications.
The notifications will have your receipt numbers as well. You can add those cases to your online account by the receipt numbers. This will send you email notification if there is any update on the case.

Update from attorney. Filing thru attorney..We sent package to him then he sent ...

Turns out package received 9/22 gave us tracking info
No updates as of yet..
