Hi, someone please help me!
My family are in I-485 pending. By the way, this Summer we're planning to visit our home country for about 4 weeks. My concern is, what if INS sends some importance notice (like RFE) to my home address during this time? I heard that INS usually sends importance notices as "certified mails", which requires receiver's signature to receive the mail. If the postman can't find anyone in the house for about 2 weeks, then the mail is returned to the sender. If this kind of thing happens, I won't even know if INS has sent any mail to us or not after we get back.
I considered using "hold mail" service at USPS (which is allowed up to 30 days), but they just told me that certified mails are not included in the hold mail service, which mean if I stay longer than 2 weeks out of country, in the worst case I might fail to receive the INS notice.
Is there any good solution for this? Please help me anyone!
