Question - I dropped off my form + documents today at Fedex and the expected delivery date is Sept 1.

How do you distinguish the filing date? Is it the date you mailed out your application, the date USCIS received it or the date they issue the 797C receipt?

I sent it to Phoenix, AZ last Thursday. It was delivered on Friday and today I got an email:

Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Nebraska Service Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797)

Delivered by USPS on August 5.
Text received on August 10.
Application assigned to Vermont field office.
Checks cashed on August 11.
18 month extension received in the mail on August 14.
