Hi everyone,
I’m currently on STEM OPT visa, which is valid for 2 years. I have also filed for a green card concurrently (through marriage) on Jan 9th 2019, and my biometrics and fingerprinting have been completed on feb 4th . USCIS is currently working on my I-485 and I-765, and this status is showing since many months with no update.
I thought I could travel out of the country on my STEM OPT and booked a trip to Switzerland for June 30th- July 10th to celebrate my first anniversary with my husband. But then later I found out I cannot travel until the advanced parole and green card EAD document is in place. We have also filed for the advanced parole on Jan 9th. I’m not sure if I will get it by Jun 30th though.
I don’t know what the odds are of getting this advanced parole document, and my whole trip is non-refundable . We have also booked hotels. Our flight was purchased with honeymoon funds given by friends and family, so there is a lot of sentimental value to this. We were not able to go on honeymoon first year and have been saving all this to make a trip.
I am not sure how long this will take, and if I should apply to expedite the advanced parole? What documents do they need to see, and will my case be considered? What will the timeline be for expediting? Please share your thoughts.
