Green card at low income

Hi
I have done my Associate's degree and will now start working with a US based petroleum company as a Lab Technician. My boss offered me to sponser employment green card. I want to apply for green card but know all the details first ... like Is it necessary to have a certain annual income for green card ? Is it possible for a Laboratory Technician position ? and how long would it take to process a green card ? And is it necessary to complete few yrs of employement in certain company and then apply for green card ?

Any advice or suggestion will be appreciated. Thank you !
