Hi,
I am applying I-485 which requires my birth certificate. The name of my mother in the birth certiificate and as per her offical records is Sudha V.
However, in my passport her name is Vilasini Sudha( V had to be expanded as Vilasini for passport requirement). The last name and first name got interchanged.
Now do I have to make the name change in my passport to Sudha Vilasini?
I searched the indian consulate's site and for such changes I guess a new passport with the name change will be issued.If I get the new passport, then do I have to contact INS to have the visas transfered from my old passport to the new one before I file my I-485? I also wanted to mention that my I-140 is not filed.Both I -140 and I-485 will be filed around the same time by my employer since I qualify for an EB-1 category.
Please advise.
