Hello all!
An important question -
In 2017 I was on J2 status, working under my EAD. During the AT of the J1, I didn't initially extend the EAD and turns out I worked unauthorized for 120 days. I was eligible for an EAD and indeed got one shortly after applying. The moment I realized that's the case, I took an unpaid leave of absence and returned to work only after obtaining the EAD.
Currently, I'm on F1 status and my employer is about to submit a PERM application on my behalf.
What's the recommended course of action? A short search indicates that under 180 days could be OK. What else does it depend on? Is there a significant chance it might hamper my chances of obtaining a GC?
Thanks!
