Hello,this is a nice forum I guess some one might be able to answer my question here...
My mother is a green card holder and has applied for my immigration in 2001 , petition was approved in 2005 with 2001 july priority date, now she is in the process of applying for citizenship..which might take another 7 months or so.. from what I understand if she becomes a citizen , my immigartion category(as a unmarried son) will move up ....
Question is will my status automatically change from Family Based- F2B to F1 ..or will I have to file a petition with the INS
I ask this because if so the current cut off dates for F-1 are of jan 2003, so I might be elegible for GC..
...Also if this happens how long does it take the Indian consulate to send a notice if the petition has been approved as in my case and the cut- off is current ...
I'll be grateful is some one can shed some light on this issue...
