My immigrant wife and I have our 485 interview appointment scheduled and are gathering documents. We submitted a copy of her birth certificate (scanned in Mongolia), but the original still only exists back in her home country.
Do we have to have the original paper mailed to us in the U.S. to have at the interview? We have other documents with her birth date at least--marriage license, passport, and copies / translations of the certificate. But we'd rather not pay the large mailing fee if not necessary.
Any advice welcome.
