  • PIO Card Application (New Born) – Washington DC

    Hi Friends,

    Today is Aug 13 2014. Writing my PIO card experience, which I submitted for my new born son 'Ashvik Soni'

    I submitted my application for PIO card today. Following are the steps for the same -

    I took 2 sets of following documents -

    A - Forms and Payment Details

    I. CKGS order signed by both the parents, including money order number
    II. Additional Particular Form
    III. PIO application form (Paste the 1 photo on each form). Notarize the third page of the form. You can get the notarized at UPS store.
    IV. Notarized Parent Authorization Form.
    V. Money order 220 USD (I paid 15 USD extra to get the document back on my home address)

    B - Ashvik's (son) Docs

    I. Original US passport
    II. Photocopies of US Passport Copy (Info Page and 49,50,51 because I have passport with 52 page)
    III. Photocopies of Birth Certificate Copy
    IV. 2 extra photographs

    C - Dad's Docs
    I. Photocopies of Passport (first three and last two pages)
    II. Photocopies of Birth Certificate Copy
    III. Photocopies of US Driving License
    IV. Photocopies of H1B approval notice
    V. Photocopies of I-94
    VI. Photocopies of Visa

    D - Mom's Docs
    I. Photocopies of Passport (first three and last two pages)
    II. Photocopies of Birth Certificate Copy
    III. Photocopies of US State Id
    IV. Photocopies of I-94
    VI. Photocopies of Visa

    But CKGS executive took only below docs -

    Ashvik Original US Passport
    1 set of CKGS Order form
    Money order
    2 Sets of PIO application (Notarized 3rd Page)
    2 extra photographs
    1 set of Additional Particulars form
    1 set of Parental Auth form (Notarized)
    1 set of Ashvik passport photocopies (Info page and 49,50,51 page)
    1 set of Ashvik birth certificate photocopy
    1 set of Dad's passport photocopies (Picture and last page)
    1 set of Mom's passport photocopies (Picture and last page)
    1 set of Dad's I797 photocopy (Petitioner Details Page)
    1 set of Dad's I-94 photocopy (Front page)
    1 set of Dad's Visa photocopy
    1 set of Mom's Visa photocopy
    1 set of Dad's US state Id photocopy (Front page)
    1 set of Mom's US state Id photocopy (Front page)

      Hi Anil,

      Can you please some information about your son PIO application like

      When did you submitted PIO application at Washington DC and when did you received back date of PIO card?

      Reason i am asking is i have applied for my son on July 25th and it was under processed with Embassy of India, Washington DC on July 26th 2014 post that there is no update.

      So want to know how long does it take at Washington DC embassy to process PIO application.

          that's pretty good turnaround... OCI is taking about 90 days or more..
