Place of birth and Country of Birth for OCI Application

Im seeing several places in the form that outright contradicts what is being said. So my dilemma is for country of birth and place of birth do I just add India or do i add the actual place in India where im born. I have a US pasport and in it for place of birth it just says India....Im just so confused on what to do and im worried my visa is going to get rejected because of this minor thing. I really hate this process everytime i go through it whether its getting a visa for my kids and wife or for myself.. I wish they had good coding on their software which was easy to navigate. Or some kind of a little question mark on every field that clearly explained what they are looking for. The site is so cryptic to use, allmost like a puzzle...Its pretty sad and pathetic that this is the best tool we could come up with..Along with this i have the added paranoia, that even if my visa for oci gets rejected something is going to get screwed up with shipping that i loose my US passport on the way back. Then i have to apply to get a new US passport along with applying for an oci...
