I just wanted to share my experience and then ask a question.
I tried to get my passport and birthcertificate notarized at Wachovia Bank. They said they won't do it due to the Patriot Act. Fair enough! I paid $4 for each document and got it notarized at UPS store. Funny how certain federal laws only applies to certain institutions.
My question is... I need to send a notarized copy of my wife's birth certificate. I was told that my wife has to be present in person to get her birth certificate notarized. I am applying from Washington DC jurisdiction. However, my wife is temporarily in PA, which falls under the NewYork jurisdiction. So the notary seal is going to say PA. Does that matter? I don't want my application to reject because the notary seal is from a different state than mine. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
