OCI Status - Sent US Passports early

Applied for OCI at Houston and the status enquiry hasnt updated.

The instructions says to send US passports right after OCI paper works reach houston.

"“Documents Received at Houston on (date indicated), the applicants are requested to immediately send their original US passport(s)"

I sent my original passports but I think I read the instructions wrong. Am i suppose to send US passports when status updates? because the status hasnt updated its been about three months.

Please advise.
