Question regarding new OCI and entering India
I am a US citizen. I have been living in India on a stay visa since COVID hit in 2020 and havent returned to the US yet due to personal reasons. I tried applying for OCI in India (as being a resident in India) but ran into a lot of complications. Because of that, i decided to apply for OCI in the US itself. I sent my application to my friend in the US and they mailed it on my behalf to VFS. The process was smooth and my OCI has been delivered to my friend in the US.
Since i am currently living in India with a stay visa, this visa will expire by 31st July. Since my OCI has been processed, i dont want to renew this visa anymore. My plan is to tell my friend to mail my OCI to me in India, exit India before my visa expires and re-enter with my OCI. My dilemma is -> When i am re-entering India with my OCI, I am a little concerned if the Immigration officer will question my absent time in the US and question my OCI application process and deny entry into India. Please note that during my stay in India, i have exited India and traveled to countries other than the US and re-entered India with no issues (my India stay visa is a multiple-entry visa).
