Hi,
Currently i am on H4 visa residing in states.Also just applied for an extention for H4 , waiting for an approval.
In the meanwhile my passport has no surname i.e. first name: XYZ , surname: blank
whereas my visa has my name as first name : FNU , Surname: XYZ
This situation is stopping me from getting an DMV License .
Also an IT consultancy has filed my H1b this year, again waiting for an approval.
So to get a DMV i need to fix my name in passport(want to add my husband's last name in passport), when is the best time to change the name before i get my approval of H1b or after the approval.
As i have no clue if changing the name and getting a new passport will affect my visa status(getting rfe).
It would be really great if anyone can help me with the situation.
