I have an Indian passport valid till 2015 and an H1B US visa valid till Feb 2010. I will be travelling to Italy (via UK) and returning to the US on Jan 3rd, 2010. Based on French consulate web site in Washington, I need to have a valid H1 visa till May 2010 to get a Schengen visa. Is my understanding correct? Even though this is a French consulate website, I assume that the Schengen visa requirements must be the same in all Schengen countries. I also did not see this requirement in the Houston French consulate website. So I am confused about this requirement..
