Critical Need Info - H1B Extension receipt info

My employer delayed my H1b extension petition(for no reason) and he filed on August 9th 2017 and My H1b visa and i-94 expires on Sept 1st. I still haven't received any receipt notice from USCIS to my employer/attorney( i am following up with them regularly). I would like to know...

My Kids on H4 Visa, their I-94 getting expired in 2 weeks. Their passport renewal is pending with Indian consulate at Chicago. I have to submit form I-539 before I-94 expiry, but no passport in hand to submit that. What do I need to do now ? Any similar experiences, please guide.

My I-94 expiring in a week and my passport at UK consulate NY for WP stamping. I may get my Passport after I-94 Expired.

Any issues if I overstay a week after my I-94 expired, Since my passport is struck in UK Consulate ?
