I noticed that there is $100 consular fee for OCI in lieu of PIO card. Wasn't that free of cost conversion?
When did they started charging for it?
Also, at what age a person is considered an adult? My younger son will be 20 next June. I would rather...

I need to apply for my new born's PIO. She is born in USA while we parents are Indian Citizens.
What all docs would be required if I plan to apply in person at the DC embassy? If someone can pin point the exact docs here for our case?

New Minor PIO application and no tracking provided by CKGS NY
I submitted my application to CKGS, NY on Nov 3 2014 and UPS delivered on Nov 4 2014 at 1PM and its been over 6 working days and no tracking information was provided by CKGS. Today is Nov 12 2014 and no update had been received from CKGS that they received my Daughters PIO application and what so ever....

Question 1: I have a 5 year old, whose passport had to be renewed now. His old passport has OCI, but it has to be renewed as per rules.
I want to leave to India on Dec 19 2014 and the time frame is not enough for me to start this process. Will it be OK if I apply for a 10 year VISA...

Declaration form for PIO application
One of the required documents in checklist for PIO application (for minor as well as adult) is Declaration form.
If the application is for infants, do we have to put their thumb impression or infant's parents need to sign this form?

PIO Card for minor together with father renunciation

Anybody had been in to this situation. Can I apply a minor's PIO card and my renunciation certificate application together. I am planning to apply for OCI later, hence not applying for PIO now. Due to an upcoming trip, I think a PIO card is better for my daughter, but it requires my renunciation...
