I really doubt it will be an issue as long as you have a genuine reason for not changing your last and have other concrete documentation to show proof of bona fide marriage

And for what it's worth, "legitimate reason" could be "I am kinda attached to my name and it never occurred to me to change it". That's word-for-word what I said, and it passed, as they say in French, like a letter in the mail. (IE, they may ask you about just anything that you do different from "most people", but if you just say that it's how you prefer to do it and maybe why it makes sense in the way your life is set up, that's fine. There is no law that mandates name changes for married people, so you're just availing yourself of a right -- to keep your name -- that you have.)

No, why would that be an issue? Neither one of us changed his name. I am very attached to my last name(s). My husband's name is a little different. His last name is actually his father's first name. And his father's last name is my husband's grandfather's first name, and so on. So we thought of making my husband's last name a middle name that we all use. Haven't gotten to that yet. Maybe when he becomes a citizen.
