First you decide who is going to sponsor the trip?

Besides the balance, your income is very important too.
If you are making more than $ 40k/yr, you are safe.
They should be able to show Rs 10-12 lacs as deposits if they want to spend their own money. ( It is sensible to assume that the trip will cost them around Rs 2-3 lacs, and one feels safe to spend that kind of money only if one has at least 4-5 times that amount in deposits.)

This question is for taco..please advice

a peculiar case - my parents interview was on 2nd may in mumbai. got rejected. they asked very unpleasant questions. my parents have got 10 lakhs in their account. its a joint account. no property in india. as my dad was working in private services, he also doesnt get any pensions. He didnt earn much when he was working (about 5000 a month). You can say we have had a poor start. These 10 lakhs are all their savings. THey live with my elder brother who is a government employee. Even he doesnt have any property.

The CO was very rude and insulting enough to say that 'You guys are too poor to go and see US' by what you have earned in your lifetime. Actually, They were going to buy tickets while we sponser their expenses here. We didnt send the affidavit but an ordinary invite stating that we would cover thier expenses.

Now we are ready to sponsor the whole trip. And dont want to make any mistakes. Please advice what should we do. My husband is on a H1 and earns about 50000 $ per annum. Please tell us, when should we reapply, what documents should we present this time. And what should they say about reason of rejection when they next apply?

        Please anybody.. help!
