This question is asked on behalf of my friend. He is a green card holder for last five years and is about to apply for his US citizenship. Unfortunately, he recently lost his passport. He used to travel a lot for business (two weeks to one month per trip) but he has no records of entry/exit dates because of the lost passport. Is there any way possible to contact the immigration (or any other agency for that matter) to get a copy of the entry/exit records? He traveled on all sorts of airlines so it is not possible to contact the airlines because he does not remember what airline was used for what trip. However, port of entry/exit was JFK all the time. How he can fill out the N-400 application on the trips abroad without these records if they are not available? If he fills out the info to the best of his knowledge on those trips, would he be denied the citizenship when INS compares the dates with their own database and finds the discrepancy? If the district INS office does not have records of the entry/exit then how can he prove the dates of his absences? Please help anybody with same experience.
