I was born under name "a".
I changed my name legally to name "b" in 1996.
I married a US citizen in 1999 under name "b".
I changed my name back to name "a" shortly after marriage. (I do not have the legal change of name document)
I received my unconditional GC in 2004 under name "a", no issues.
I renewed my GC in 2014 under name "a", no issues.
I separated (not 'legally separated') from my spouse in 2016.
I expect to file divorce during 2017.
Should I be applying for N400 on basis of marriage, as application asks for current marriage certificate which will bear name "b"? or should I file for legal separation, or should I file for divorce first?
If on basis of marriage, should I expect problems if my marriage license shows name "b", and my GC shows name "a"?
Thanks in advance.
