Out of Status on H1

hi - My wife got a H1 visa through a contractor but since then she has not been getting paid. Because of my ignorance i did not understand the implications of this. Now after some months we have realized that she has been out of status all this time and should not be staying in US. She has since traveled back to India and I am not trying to get a H4 visa for her. Can someone here please suggest me if this period when she was out of status can cause any issue on her H4 visa. on DS160 form what should be mentioned about this period?
