H1B visa interview.Are the chances of success better if we go along with wife ?

I am planning to attend the h1B visa interview this month. However, few of my friends say, that the chances of clearing the VISA is easier if we go along with our familly (dependants). I am planning to take my wife as dependent along with me, however, i am skipping my kid, as he dosen't have a passport now. Anybody can please let me know, if it is fine...or it will lead to unnecessary complications...!
