Going to India on OPT when H1 is being processed . Do I need stamping ?

My STEM extension OPT ends on Dec 2015. My employer will be sponsoring my H1 in April 2015. I have to travel for personal reasons to India in May 2015. Lets assume April 1st to be H1b premium processing filing date and I get the result of my H1 being accepted / rejected by April 3rd week. Lets assume acceptance as of now.
a. If I travel to India on May 1st, 2015 , is it necessary to have my H1 stamped when I come back to US on May 25th ? or can I come back just on OPT. ( fyi : I travelled to India in Dec 2014 on OPT and came back without any problems , also my understanding is the H1 is active only from October 2015 )
b. Should I be concerned about getting H1 stamping dates in Chennai if stamping is absolutely required ?
c. Is it true that my OPT visa will be cancelled as soon as H1 is filed ? . If so, the approved H1 will be active only from October 2015 right ?
d. If my H1 is denied, will there be a problem coming back to US in May 2015 ( fyi : I travelled to India in Dec 2014 on OPT and came back without any problems ).
Any inputs on these would be deeply appreciated.
