Hello,
I'm in the US on H1B visa.
Last time when I entered US in March 2015, the immigration officer gave me I94 with validity date May 29, 2016 since my passport was expiring by that date but my visa was valid till July 2017. The officer had told me to go to Mexico and make a U turn with renewed passport to get the new I94 with same validity as was visa (July 2017).
Then in December 2015, I changed job and hence H1 transfer was applied. At that time, my passport was not renewed. It has now been renewed.
Also, now the petition validity has been curtailed to January 2017.
Question: Can I just go to Mexico and re-enter the US for new I94 or will I have to apply for visa stamping as my employer has changed and the visa on my passport had annotation for the previous employer?
Is there a way that I don't have to go out of US and I get the new I94?
