Hi,
I was working on H1B visa and had 2.5 years left on my visa when I was laid off. from work.
USCIS received my H4 application (as a dependent on my husband's H1 visa) 2 weeks after my last day of employment (to prevent myself from being out of status).
Now I am offered another employment.
My questions are:
1. It's been 2 weeks till today that USCIS received my H4 application. I have not yet received the receipt. How long does it usually take to get the H4 receipt?
2. For my new employer to transfer my H1 visa, do they need the H4 receipt ?
3. Usually how long before I become out of status after I loose employment while on H1 visa?
